ABOUT US

Harper Lumber got its start way back in 1946, when Ralph H Harper founded a contract logging and sawmill business in Rock Cave West Virginia. Ralph H Harper Lumber Company soon became well known for it’s quality lumber. Hardwood Lumber was shipped to furniture businesses all over the eastern United States, along with the pallet stock that was delivered in the tri-state area. In the late 1960’s the business was expanded to include a retail division which sold hardware and other building supplies.

After taking over the retail division in 1981, Mark Harper purchased the retail division in 1991 from his father and renamed it Harper Lumber & Building Supply. The business has since expanded in 2004 to include a retail location in Buckhannon, located beside Corhart’s in Legget Addition.

In January 2024, Kevin Ware and Scott Spotloe purchased Harper Lumber & Building Supply to continue the legacy of the Harper family.

Harper Lumber still upholds its reputation for quality products to this day, stocking a higher grade of lumber and selling premium products while still maintaining something to fit every budget.

Harper Lumber has also been known for its service, and the current employees and company do all they can for customers to ensure their projects go well. A fleet of over 12 vehicles, including boom trucks, forklift trucks, dump beds and pickup trucks are used to get material to our customers as quickly as possible; in most cases that means same day delivery.
